This is a great way for students to come together in faith to pray. Once a week at lunch students gather with a staff member to pray the Rosary. A morning announcement invites all interested persons stating the intentions for the Rosary. The intentions can be global (e.g., for the victims of a recent natural disaster) or local (for a deceased member of the community, relative of a staff member or student). A basket of plastic rosaries is kept in the chapel for this purpose. For schools without a chapel, this can be done in a classroom with candles. During Lent the Rosary can be changed to the Stations of the Cross.
This activity allows students to gather in prayer and to make deep connections with one another. When people pray together they form bonds of familiarity and love. They are reminded that God is with them. It allows them to take time away from their hectic, busy teenage lives to connect with the Lord, and bring to Him the needs of the wider community.
